The Aida Swivel Armchair from Poltrona Frau is dressed to impress, ascending from a swiveling base in the seat’s shadow to a softer upper structure that blooms like a flower. This memorable design from the mind of Roberto Lazzeroni is crafted in Italy and blends traditional techniques with modern materials, placing a beechwood and birch plywood construction beneath well-sprung supports of biconical springs hand-secured to jute belts and accompanied by molded polyurethane foam to create encompassing comfort of a wraparound seat and back. Strong yet soft upholstery completes the design, adding a unity of purpose to an almost sculptural structure, at once fabulous and functional.

My mom noticed the room right away after we changed it and we all seem to use the room a little differently now.

On quiet mornings this swivel chair makes the seating area feel more settled. The longer it is here the more natural it feels. It has a way of making the room feel welcoming when people are coming and going. The longer we live with it the more certain I am that it was the right choice.

I planned around this swivel chair to make the room feel more settled and it turned out to be a very practical choice. I specifically wanted the swivel version so that detail mattered to me. It feels intentional without being fussy. I would choose the same direction again for a similar room.

The part of the room that felt unfinished feels calmer since this armchair became part of the setup. It has become one of those pieces people use without thinking about it.

I finally chose this swivel chair to give the seating area a little more flexibility and the whole setup feels more complete now. It feels most right on the completely ordinary days.

We installed this over the round table in our dining area. The alabaster pieces have noticeable natural variation, which gives the fixture more character than plain frosted glass. It produces plenty of light without feeling harsh, and the gold finish is softer and less shiny than it appeared online. The chandelier is fairly heavy, and our electrician spent extra time leveling the ring after installation. Once adjusted, it felt secure and looked properly balanced. We are very happy with the finished result.

It gives the room a warm, comfortable glow rather than the flat light we had from the previous fixture. Our electrician needed some extra time to adjust the three cables and get the ring perfectly level, so installation was not especially quick. Once finished, however, it looked clean and balanced. The aged brass details are subtle and work well with the older wood and brick in our home.

We chose this for our family room because we wanted something distinctive without adding a long hanging fixture. The 38-inch width is larger than it may seem online, but the shallow profile works surprisingly well with our ceiling height. The eucalyptus color is muted and slightly uneven across the coconut pieces, which makes the fixture look more natural. When the lights are on, the branches cast interesting shadows across the ceiling without making the room feel dark. It has completely changed an otherwise very plain room.
